Planning a wedding in 2020 was no joke, as was the case for Haleigh and Andrew. Haleigh and I met with her planner Melissa in October of 2019 to order save the dates for her September 2020 wedding in Colorado. In the months following, they decided to move the wedding to Indiana so guests could eliminate any travel required. The style of their wedding invitations remained consistent throughout the process, making a few adjustments along the way.

Colorado Save the Dates

I usually discourage couples from doing photo save the dates, as they rarely reflect the style of the wedding. When Haleigh said they took engagement photos in Telluride, the decision was easy to use them on her save the date. It was the perfect focal point alongside a hand drawn map. Copper foil and a tea rose envelope gave this card just enough texture without taking away from the formality of the event.

Wedding venues move to Indiana

In March, we designed and proofed invitations for a Telluride wedding at Gorrono Ranch. As events unfolded, they decided to move the ceremony to Haleigh’s family residence and the reception to Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel. As a result, we first created a graphic to email to guests. We used fonts and colors that was to come on the invitations. This is all covered in a complimentary consultation, which can be scheduled here.

Indiana Wedding Invitations

Once they informed their guests of the venue changes, it was time to work on the invitations! Haleigh chose a white handmade paper with a silk ribbon wrap to hold her accessory cards. A beautiful matte copper foil tied in the feel of her save the dates.

A khaki watercolor details card with gold foil included everything guests needed to celebrate the big day. Finally, the same tea rose stock they used on the save the date envelope made a perfect reply card stock. Due to the lack of parking, they offered guests transportation to and from the ceremony. At that time, we were in between the “we’re coming out of this” and “the second wave is coming” stage of covid. Guests indicated on the reply card their preferred transportation. Therefore, it was a win win for everyone involved.

Wife to Ben, Mom to Miles and Banks, and Daughter to Bob + Becky, I have a love for not only these people, but for the creative process luxury weddings require. After thirteen years in the stationery industry, I’ve gone back to what got me interested in the business to begin with, weddings.
